The Centre for Proficiency Testing is
excited to offer over
100 surveys to Ontario-licensed facilities in 2018!
Proficiency testing is the determination of participant performance by means of inter-laboratory comparisons. The IQMH Proficiency Testing programs are designed to provide regular, objective and independent assessment of a participant’s ability to provide an acceptable standard of service by comparison with peers. Comparison of all results provides insight into performance that is not available to the individual participants.
Proficiency testing should help laboratories optimize their performance. By participating in proficiency testing, laboratories receive data comparing their performance to peer groups using both similar and different methods. This information provides a retrospective review of performance and may identify opportunities for improvement. Therefore, proficiency testing is an essential element in laboratories’ quality management systems.
The IQMH Centre for Proficiency Testing has planned 115 challenge surveys for 2016. Stay tuned for the release of the new catalogue.

Now that QMP-LS is IQMH, do Ontario licensed laboratories have to order PT programs?
No. Ontario-licensed laboratories will continue to receive surveys through the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC)-funded program for their primary instrument and/or methodology. Survey registrations will continue to be arranged according to the information that we receive from the Ontario MOHLTC, regarding laboratory’s scope of testing in their licence. Please do not place orders for your primary instrument or method. (See Testing for Multiple Instruments).
