World Patient Safety Day is an international initiative by the World Health Organization (WHO) dedicated to emphasizing the importance of obtaining safe and high-quality health care.
This year’s World Patient Safety Day theme, Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety, highlights the importance of a correct and timely diagnosis. The failure to establish a correct and timely diagnosis can limit patients from accessing the care and treatment they need. Health care providers, policymakers, and patients must foster collaboration and communication to reduce diagnostic errors and thus, improve diagnosis for patient safety.
Through engaging with key stakeholders and raising awareness, IQMH is committed to promoting laboratory quality improvement with its proficiency testing programs, providing valuable insight to laboratories to ensure patient safety and improve overall health outcomes. Participating in IQMH proficiency testing programs supports the WHO World Patient Safety Day theme, “Get it right, make it safe!
