Black History Month provides an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions and achievements of Black communities in health care. This includes the countless contributions made by Black individuals within the health care sector, who have played a vital role in advancing medical research, improving patient care, and promoting health equity.
This year’s theme, Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; a Future to Build, signifies the that is diverse and inclusive for all.
This February let’s take a moment to reflect and understand the systemic barriers faced by Black Canadians in the health care system. These barriers are often overlooked by those who are not directly affected, creating a system that normalizes inequality. As an organization committed to promoting excellence in laboratory medicine and health care, IQMH recognizes the importance of addressing these disparities and working towards a more equitable and inclusive health care system for all.
