With the Health Standards Organization’s (HSO) continued development of relationships and partnerships, the organization has supported the recent launch of Healthcare Excellence Canada’s (HEC) Workforce Innovation Challenge. The challenge is a common commitment between the two organizations to improve patient and workforce safety and quality.

The Workforce Innovation Challenge takes place over a year and is aimed at aiding healthcare institutions and their staff in exploring creative ways to enhance the retention and support of their existing healthcare workforce.

HEC encourages healthcare organization teams from any sector, to join the challenge from June 27, 2023, to April 30, 2024. The sooner teams register, the more award opportunities they will have. Monetary awards can reach up to $112,000.

The challenge will include networking, expert coaching, and evidence-informed tools and best practices for fostering physically safe work environments, enhancing sustainable staffing, building flexible work structures, providing equitable compensation, ensuring inclusive workplaces, and supporting career advancements.
