The highly anticipated 2022 Action Report by Accreditation Canada (AC) and Health Standards Organization’s (HSO) was recently released. The report highlights the advancements achieved through collaborative efforts with stakeholders in tackling challenging quality and safety concerns in today's global health ecosystem.
Among the topics covered in the 2022 Action Report is people-centred care (PCC), recognizing the importance of patient engagement and the critical role it plays in achieving positive health care outcomes.
The report also discusses how the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of digital solutions, and innovative practices where technology has improved access to care, enhanced communication between health care providers and patients, and streamlined administrative processes, improving the patient experience, including increased efficiency and reduced costs.
Also highlighted is the launch of HSO’s five-year strategy to work with stakeholders, including patients,
providers and policy makers, to increase reach and achieve collective impact. The cornerstone of the strategy is to empower and enable people to engage in continuous quality improvement and learning which in turn are aimed at enhancing patient safety, reducing medical errors, and improving clinical outcomes.
