 — Accreditation Canada (AC) and the Institute for Quality Management in Healthcare (IQMH) today announced an agreement to join forces bringing the longest standing healthcare accreditation body in Canada and Canada’s largest provider of medical laboratory accreditation and proficiency testing together. IQMH is now a controlled affiliate of AC to advance a common goal of improving the quality of healthcare in Canada and around the world.

The IQMH Centre for Proficiency Testing is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of the IQMH Proficiency Testing 2020 catalogue this August. We’ve been working hard to ensure that the 2020 Proficiency Testing (PT) programs meet and exceed your laboratory’s needs. This article outlines the biggest and most notable change, which is the complete overhaul of the Chemistry General program. Details on other changes and improvements are also discussed in this article.

Job Summary: Consultant Technologist, Centre for Proficiency Testing

The Centre for Proficiency Testing is recruiting a Consultant Technologist primarily to manage the Transfusion Medicine Proficiency Testing program. This is a mature program that requires ongoing development and innovation. The successful candidate will be expected to have sufficient flexibility to take on the administration of other programs from time to time as required and IQMH is looking for innovation, ideas and energy to take its proficiency testing to higher levels of excellence.

You will be responsible for collaborating with members of our transfusion medicine scientific committee and IQMH staff to design, plan and implement various medical laboratory proficiency testing models. This includes monitoring laboratory performance and developing quality improvement initiatives. In addition, you will be interacting with participating laboratories to address their sites’ survey inquiries.

OTTAWA & TORONTO (January 17, 2019) — Accreditation Canada (AC) and the Institute for Quality Management in Healthcare (IQMH) today announced they have formed a strategic partnership. The goal of the partnership is to improve the quality of healthcare by combining the forces of two leading providers of accreditation services in Canada. This partnership will enable the provision of a comprehensive range of services and form the basis for integration of diagnostic accreditation to broader health system accreditation. This will make it easier for healthcare providers to integrate their diagnostic processes to the broader health system accreditation processes and benefit the patient through their journey on the continuum of care.

IQMH presents scientific poster at the XXXIst International Symposium on Technical Innovations in Laboratory Hematology

The XXXIst International Symposium on Technical Innovations in Laboratory Hematology (ISLH) was held in Brussels, Belgium on May 10–12 and IQMH was there! Representing our organization was our very own Anna Johnston, Consultant Technologist, Centre for Proficiency Testing. The abstract “IQMH Laboratory Practices for Manual Blood Film Review” was accepted for a poster presentation. The poster generated a lot of interest in the IQMH Morphology Proficiency Testing program from international delegates. Seen in the photo are (left to right): Ms. Anna Johnston, Ms. Karen Moffat, Dr. Elaine Leung and Dr. David Good.

IQMH is seeking volunteers to sit on its Proficiency Testing Scientific Committee(s) and Accreditation Advisory Panel, effective January 1, 2018 – December 31, 2020. Membership on committees consists of a three-year term of office, renewable once. Committees meet an average of four times a year for half-day or full-day meetings.
