The scope of the ISO/TC 212 technical committee involves standardization and guidance in the field of laboratory medicine and in vitro diagnostic test systems. The TC is further subdivided into five working groups:
This technical committee has 43 participating members from around the world, 21 observing members, and has published 27 ISO standards with 24 ISO standards currently under development.
The following Canadian delegates were present at the October meeting of ISO/TC 212:

Other Canadians who make a valuable contribution bringing their technical expertise to the work of the TC/212 are: Lynn Allen, Maria Carballo, Carol Cheung, Ted Dunn, Anne-Marie Martel, and Michael Noble. There’s no question that Canada makes an enormous contribution to the work of this Technical Committee. The level of respect we have internationally is palpable; we are known for serious, active participation. Of special note is the fact that Sheila Woodcock and Christina Dragichi are co-chairing the revision of ISO 15189 Medical laboratories – Requirements for quality and competence, which is now underway.
