IQMH is joining the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) to raise awareness for Mental Health Week from May 6–12. Mental health plays a significant role in shaping many aspects of life and the overall well-being of an individual.
This year, the CMHA is focusing on ‘a call to be kind because compassion connects us all’. Giving compassion, receiving compassion and self-compassion are all powerful tools for one’s mental health and well-being.
IQMH recognizes the need to create a compassionate workplace that prioritizes the mental well-being of the workforce. Creating a compassionate workplace culture is not only linked to higher job satisfaction, loyalty and trust in the organization but also improvements in performance and motivation.1 Prioritizing mental well-being benefits both the workforce and the workplace.
With high levels of stress and anxiety, it is easy to overlook your mental health. Many workplaces provide resources and accommodations for their workforce’s well-being. Take the first step to creating a healthy work-life balance and prioritize your mental health by taking advantage of the support offered by your workplace.
It is important to understand that workplaces have a significant role in the impact of their workforces’ mental health. People may be hesitant to seek help if they feel unsupported. As an employer, it is crucial to invest in resources that create a compassionate workplace culture to foster employee engagement and enhance the overall well-being of employees. Let’s continue to work towards a compassionate workplace culture and promote a healthier community.
