The WorldLab – EuroMedLab conference was held in Rome, Italy this year from May 21–25, where former IQMH scientific committee member, Paul M. Yip, who served as a member on the Chemistry committee from 2010–2020 and as Chair from 2017–2020, presented a virtual poster on understanding how medical laboratories manage reference intervals and post-analytical reporting of ferritin, and the future of harmonizing reporting across Canada.

The event was very well attended with an exciting scientific program covering the most relevant and strategic areas for the future of laboratory medicine and patient care. International speakers and key opinion leaders reviewed and presented important issues regarding the profound changes expected in laboratory medicine following the introduction of new analytical technologies, new diagnostic strategies, innovation in digitalization, extensive data processing and the consequent integration and interpretation of clinical laboratory information.

A record number of scientific abstracts (>2100) were submitted by scientists and laboratory professionals from around the world, and IQMH had the privilege of presenting one of our own!
