Marlou is a Medical Laboratory Technologist, specializing in Parasitology with Public Health Ontario Laboratory (PHOL) in Toronto.
Marlou earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology in the Philippines and later continued her education at the Michener Institute to become a certified medical laboratory technologist. She then began her career at PHOL where she worked in various capacities and settled in her current role within Clinical and Environment Microbiology.
As a member of the IQMH Parasitology Scientific Committee, Marlou has volunteered her time and expertise since December 2021 to prepare survey samples, microscopic analysis, homogeneity results, including pictures and morphologic descriptions of parasitic organisms. She actively contributes in collaborative discussions regarding collected survey data, improving the quality of future proficiency testing surveys.
On her experience of being an IQMH Scientific Committee Member, Marlou says she enjoys “sharing [her] knowledge and expertise gained from years of experience working in the Parasitology laboratory.”
