Georgina Ralevski joined the IQMH team as Director, Centre for Proficiency Testing in July 2021. Georgina is a medical laboratory technologist (MLT) where she worked in a public health laboratory setting for over 32 years.
Georgina graduated with a B.Sc., Specialist in Microbiology from the University of Toronto in 1989. In 2017, Georgina attended and graduated from McMaster University’s DeGroot School of Business with a master’s in health management. She began her career working in the virology lab at Public Health Ontario (PHO), performing clinical testing in virus detection (tissue culture, electron microscopy, and molecular testing), and supervised the hepatitis testing section responsible for automated serology and molecular viral load testing. In 2009, Georgina took on the role of quality assurance (QA) manager, where she led and supported the activities of the quality management system for PHO’s 11 laboratory sites. She later took on the additional roles of customer service centre manager (2011) and research operations manager (2019).
Along with QA, customer service, and research operations, Georgina’s other responsibilities were to coordinate communications on the laboratory’s external website. This included the coordination of up-to-date information on the laboratory’s online test directory, COVID-19 PCR specimen collection instructions and requisition development, and communication of significant changes to laboratory clients to name a few.
Georgina completed the IQMH Accreditation Assessor training in 2007 and has participated in numerous peer assessment visits to laboratories in Ontario.
Working as an MLT for over 32 years, Georgina has a passion for quality and is looking forward to contributing to the work of Proficiency Testing at IQMH.
