IQMH Conversation Day: Ethics in Diagnostic Medicine
Medical laboratory, collection centre and diagnostic imaging personnel at all levels.
February 9, 2018
University Centre Conference Centre, 393 University Avenue, Lower Level
Cost: $395 (+tax)
A small forum for laboratory and diagnostic imaging personnel to clarify the confusion about the role of ethics in our services and to explore the topic of gender identity. The opening presentation by Ruby Shanker, Bioethicist, will set the stage to explain exactly what the term “ethics” encompasses and to explain the issues we should be aware of. Subsequent speakers will illuminate the components of an ideal ethics training program. The remainder of the day will be spent exploring the inclusion of gender identity within diagnostic services: how to approach patients for front-facing staff, and practical solutions around the challenges gender identity can present with diagnostic result reporting.
