Alexander Kumaritakis, Proficiency Testing Consultant Technologist, Chemistry
Alex joined the IQMH Proficiency Testing team in September 2022 as a Consultant Technologist. Prior to IQMH, he worked at the Toronto East Health Network in multiple departments as a Core Lab MLT (Chemistry, Hematology, and Transfusion Medicine) before becoming a senior staff in hematology and microbiology.
Working in a community teaching hospital gave him the opportunity to be involved in process improvements and instrument validations. He played an active role in the validation and implementation of the XN hematology line, CS coagulation line, and the GeneXpert Molecular Diagnostic program. He established the uncertainty of measurement procedure for hematology and took an active role in the training of new staff and students, creating new competence assessment profiles and training sets.
In his spare time, Alex enjoys creating pottery and ceramics, tending to his plant collection, and travelling. His most memorable experience was hiking through the rainforest of Thailand to see blossoming Rafflesias.
Abhilasha Lamba, Senior Administrative Assistant
Abby joined the IQMH Proficiency Testing team in September 2022 as a Senior Administrative Assistant. Prior to IQMH, she worked as an Administrative Assistant with the Victoria Order of Nurses and as an Administrative Support Worker in a Long-Term Care home.
After completing her Master’s in Psychology at Panjab University, Chandigarh, India, she moved to Canada and completed a Diploma in Administrative Business Management and Human Resource Management at Conestoga College. She has always thrived for excellence and quality improvement. IQMH got on her radar when she learnt that the organizations she worked with previously were accredited by Accreditation Canada. Her intrigue led her to follow up with some research, which in turn led her to IQMH.
Abby enjoys mastering new skills in her free time. On weekends, she will be busy painting and reading, or enjoying the outdoors running, cycling, skating, and kayaking.
