In the fall of 2019, Accreditation Canada (AC) and the Institute for Quality Management in Healthcare (IQMH) announced an agreement to join forces bringing the longest standing healthcare accreditation body in Canada and Canada’s largest provider of medical laboratory accreditation and proficiency testing together. In October 2019, IQMH became a controlled affiliate of AC to advance a common goal of improving the quality of healthcare in Canada and around the world.
The combined forces of these two organizations solidify their position as leaders in improving health outcomes for patients and citizens around the world. AC and IQMH will continue to provide rigorous, evidence-based, third-party evaluations, spanning a full spectrum of health and social services aligned with international leading practices and world class standards.
With great pride and excitement, the two organizations are moving forward with integration, later this year, by welcoming the IQMH Centre for Accreditation to the AC family, which will be known as AC Diagnostics under AC. IQMH Education and Echocardiography services will also be part of this transfer, while the IQMH Centre for Proficiency Testing will remain within IQMH as a controlled affiliate of AC.
A new website for medical laboratory accreditation, diagnostic imaging accreditation, echocardiography quality improvement program, and education will be launched on November 30, 2020. Existing clients will continue to access program-related information from QView™ at qview.ca.
Together, AC and IQMH are committed to delivering joint solutions that encompass health services, social services and education services with the goal of empowering others to save and improve lives. AC and IQMH will deliver integrated accreditation services, proficiency testing, standards, analytics and education programs to support both current and future patients and providers along their continuous health quality improvement journeys.
