Additional date released:
Internal Auditing Course for Medical Laboratories

Elevate the quality of your internal audit program by ensuring staff are specifically trained to the highest standards.

Description

The Internal Auditing Course for Medical Laboratories will prepare individuals to contribute as valuable and skilled internal auditors in their organizations. A three-day course, the first of its type geared specifically to medical laboratories, will be held October 26–28, 2015 at the IQMH office in Toronto. This course is designed for those who have no previous internal auditing training; however, IQMH Accreditation assessors will still benefit from this course by gaining auditing skills to benefit their facility. Facilities that engage internal audit teams with individuals that have completed this course will realize more effective internal audits because the individuals will be trained to conduct the audit purposely to add value to the quality system. Our goal is to elevate the quality of your internal audits. The course is highly interactive and will allow participants to role play, work in teams, and work on relevant content that can be brought back to your organization as valuable reference material.

Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will have received expert guidance and training on the following:

  • Basic quality management systems with an emphasis on the role of internal auditing.
  • Planning for an effective internal audit that adds real value and meets best practices
  • Conducting internal audit activities with diplomacy and reassuring interpersonal skills.
  • Identifying audit findings with language that is non-confrontational and helpful for quality improvement.
  • Keeping the correct records of the audit.

Delivery

The course is designed and delivered by two expert trainers from IQMH. Both trainers are ASQ Certified Quality Auditors with a combined 16 years of experience in internal and external audit skills across Canada. Delivery techniques will utilize interesting and relevant case studies, combined with engaging exercises that will draw upon those 16 years of experience in auditing medical laboratories.

  • Participants must bring a laptop computer. A jump-drive pre-loaded with all course materials will be provided to each participant.
  • If a participant is unable to bring a laptop, IQMH can provide you with one for the duration of the course. Important: A limited number of IQMH laptops are available and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
