On Thursday, April 30, 2015, Wayne Ozanne joined the Centre for Proficiency Testing team as Consultant Technologist (Pathology). Wayne brings many years of experience working in all aspects of pathology laboratory operations in addition to teaching online histology and histotechnology courses for medical laboratory technologists (MLT).
Wayne graduated from Fanshawe College in 1986 as a General Medical Laboratory Technologist. As a new graduate he went on to work at St. Michael’s Hospital (SMH) in Toronto. After twenty years at SMH in various positions within the Department of Laboratory Medicine, he joined St. Joseph’s Health Centre (SJHC) in Toronto where he was Manager of Department of Laboratory Medicine. More recently he transitioned his career to the private laboratory setting where he was Director of Technical Operations at LifeLabs (Kennedy Road Reference Laboratory). Wayne has participated on various committees both in the academic hospital setting as well as The Michener Institute.
Wayne completed his ART certification in Pathology in 1993, graduated with his Bachelor of Health Administration (BHA) at Ryerson University in 2000 and an Occupational Health & Safety Certificate from Ryerson in 2006. In 2013, Wayne completed the Quality Management Certificate from the Michener Institute. Currently he is enrolled in a Lean and Six Sigma Green and Black Belt Certification online program with Villanova University; the goal is to complete late summer of this year.
Wayne looks forward to enhancing his knowledge in proficiency testing and the new opportunities ahead as he takes on the Consultant Technologist position.
